OUR SERVICES

Diabetic Foot Care

Regular screening and foot care is extremely important to diabetic patients’ wellbeing. Our podiatrist is skilled in diabetic foot care and assists patients with treatment and prevention of complications associated with diabetes.

PATIENT EDUCATION

Diabetic Foot
Care

Diabetes affects all body systems. In the lower limb, it can decrease circulation and nerve sensation and lead to delayed healing of wounds. Patients commonly attempt to trim their own toenails or remove calluses which can cause these wounds. The loss of sensation along with decreased circulation can lead to serious complications. The care provided by a podiatrist is mainly preventative.

Ingrown Nail
Procedure

In cases where conservative management has failed, a permanent solution to ingrown toenails can be performed in office, referred to as a Nail Wedge Resection. The nail matrix is phenolised or destroyed during this procedure which prevents regrowth of the nail and recurrence of the ingrown. This procedure is performed under Local Anaesthesia and has minimal risk when cared for as advised by the podiatrist.

Biomechanics &
Gait Analysis

A biomechanical assessment and gait analysis is performed to identify possible abnormalities which could predispose the patient to injury or fatigue. If necessary, the podiatrist will design and manufacture custom orthotic devices to be worn in the patient’s shoes to correct or reduce the deformity and allow better overall function and performance.
